Ok, this would not be my "go-to" book for desserts. Rather, it is a recipe book geared towards small dishes and main meals. That said, I really like a number of these dishes. I have begun to collect a lot of vegetarian cookbooks since I significantly reduced my meat intact and began eating healthier in my 40's. Also, I am looking for recipes that have limited use of heavy condiments (like mayo and vinegar) and let the flavors of the dishes shine through. Some of the recipes I am looking forward to making: Grilled summer vegetables with spicy miso butter (a mixture of miso, butter, ginger, sesame oil), Roasted Tomato Bisque (using almond milk instead of heavy cream), Warm Winter Vegetables with Farro (using a light dressing of yogurt, lime, oil & herbs), and Stuffed Squash Blossom Soft Tacos. There is a really nice sandwich sections with some unusual features, like a Grilled Vegetable sandwich with Walnut Butter. There are also recipes for pasta, pizza, and various grains and beans/legumes. There is a great "make-your-own-condiment" sections with an excellent Harissa recipe (dried chiles, oil, garlic, carrot, peppers, lemon, spices) and a light corn crema that uses yogurt instead of heavy cream or mayo. Love it!-Ellen Coffman
Such a great cookbook for vegetarians or if you're just looking for accessible, creative vegetarian sides and mains. Loved reading through the opening pages. Sarah always includes great tips for stocking your pantry and keeping a fresh and healthy kitchen. She writes beautiful recipes and the photos are beautiful as usual!-Kpow
It was a gift and it was a book they had reviewed and flipped through (they are vegan/vegetarian) and wanted very badly. I only assume it continues to be a joy and great addition to their cookbook library. They like different and interesting recipes and they say the book contains just what they wanted.-Tess P.
