I am not going to pretend to be a well established chef, just someone who likes to cook and likes detail. This books works for me. The pictures are helpful, I like the detail and the sidebars which contain brief sauce and dipping recipes. The dumplings, pierogi, piroski, empanada, ravioli and other recipes from around the world are very good. You will find that actual recipes for the dough and the filling will vary when you compare it to website recipes but since this book informs you of the various names of these type of dumplings or pockets( is sure did not know them all), you can look them up on websites and compare and experiment.-Bread Basket
I like food cooked in dough. And whereas I'm a pretty good cook if it doesn't involve flour or yeast, I know absolutely nothing if it does involve flour and/or yeast. This book is great. Fun to read, the recipes are great, everything is easy to make (sometimes time-consuming, but not difficult) tips and hints are very useful. This is the only cookbook I keep out on the counter - read it 'cause it's fun and stimulates me to cook stuff for fun. If you like dumpling-like food, this is a terrific book - even if you know flour, lots of good ideas and jumping off points to experiment.-BSK's Dad
Great recipes! My culinary instructor knew that (as a Senior), i'd be more capable of crossing baked goods with the appetizer section of his kitchen, and gave me a personal project to use only recipes from this book for the week. I found different versions of recipes from my country (Dominican Republic) in other sections of the book, so it was easier for me to make these. Very simple, great instructions. I seriously enjoyed it so I purchased my own.-Bevy C.
