About the Author

Cheryl Day and Griffith Day are self-taught bakers who founded Back in the Day Bakery in Savannah, Georgia, in 2002. Their latest cookbook, Back in the Day Bakery Made with Love,
is a national bestseller, and they were semi-finalists for the 2015 James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Baker. First of all – this is Cheryl and Griffith’s 2nd book. Their first one is fabulous. I DO think that their first one was a little more “sweet” based, and this one a little more “savory” focused – but hey – together it’s the perfect balance. Although, I’m a fan of both, even when standing alone. This book, much like their first, is filled with handcrafted, scratch-made and lovingly put together recipes. Each and every recipe is “made from scratch” and written and developed with love.-Blaise
If you're anything like me and just love good and classic desserts (nothing that calls for crazy ingredients or obscure kitchen tools!) then this is your dessert book! Most of their recipes are classics with a few modern updates, but they still taste like the perfect comfort food they are! Not over complicated! My favorites in this book are their biscuits (they taste like a better version of Popeyes... Yummmm) and their pies! Unlike their first cookbook this one has more of a balance of savory, breads, and sweets. I love them both, so if you love one get the other! Happy baking!-KDF
LOVE this couple! Love their books. As a retired pastry chef I have more recipes and equipment than Carters has pills. I won't pass up one of the Day's books tho. Wonderful books with tried and true recipes and beautiful photographs. Instructions are simple and clearly written. Look for the additional craft ideas and vendor information in their first book and this one. Beautifully done.-Muber
